The semi-government-owned Top China Travel (TCT), China’s leading B2B inbound travel wholesaler, will make its Middle East exhibition debut at ATM, to seize a share of outbound tourism from the region which it forecasts will rise by 20% this year.
Middle East tourists are highly sought after worldwide due to their higher spending capacity, larger group size as well as average length of stay. We expect tourism from the region to China to really take off as people are increasingly becoming aware of the various attractions the country has to offer.
TCT is planning to launch luxury travel packages at ATM 2007 and is confident of a positive response. "We believe regional visitors will enjoy China’s rich and diverse experiences," added Cheng.

A mainland tourism official on Sunday blamed the Taiwan authorities for putting obstacles in the way of mainland tourists who want to visit Taiwan.
The Chinese mainland removed the travel ban on mainland residents to Taiwan in May 2005, in order to expand people-to-people contacts and help boost Taiwan's tourism industry.
Since October 2006, non-governmental tourism organizations on the mainland and in Taiwan have conducted five rounds of talks and reached consensus on major technical issues.
"But the consultation process was hindered by the Taiwan authorities, which led to sharp differences on certain issues between the negotiators," Shao Qiwei, director of China's National Tourism Administration, said at the closing ceremony of a two-day cross-strait forum.

You have probably read, viewed or visited all things Vietnam lately. If people are not talking about China they are undoubtedly talking about Vietnam and Vietnamese food. Recently volumes of stuff has been written about Vietnamese food, and the steady stream of restaurants featuring Vietnamese food is growing into a river. To fill the crowded media surrounding this topic even further, I thought I would visit Saigon Blue myself, just to see what all the fuss is all about.
First tip for when you're getting there: approach from Wulumuqi Lu, it's right around the corner from there on Yan'an Lu. You can also come from the Hilton on foot, alongside the driveway that stretches from the Hilton to Wulumuqi Lu, it's actually in the adjacent lane.
On first impression, the restaurant was simple and quite nicely decorated with an open kitchen, which made me feel a sense of relief that the food quality could not be too bad. Open Kitchens always suggest to me that the operators don't have anything to hide. This was confirmed by the way we were warmly greeted as we came in. The service was great throughout the dinner too.
