3. China Will Continue Charging Airport Construction Fee

China's Ministry of Finance has just issued a circular on the government's fund policy in 2007, including information about the airport construction fees levied on air tickets.

Approved by the State Council, China will continue to levy airport construction fees this year. This is the sixteenth year that China's civil aviation department had levied an airport construction fee, and the fee has been increased from RMB15 to RMB50 over the years.

4. China rail program takes off like a shot

China has launched its first bullet train, which has a maximum speed of 250km/h, demonstrating that it is determined to develop its high-speed railway network.

The new train debuted at 8:30am on January 28, traveling from Shanghai South Railway Station to the city of Hangzhou, provincial capital of Zhejiang.

At the end of 2005 China owned 1030 production berths (over 10,000 tons); 10 ports had joined the global top ten ports (100 million tons). China’s port handling capacity had amounted to 4.91 billion tons, up by 17.7% compared to the year of 2004; the container handling capacity also had reached 75.8 million TEU, up by 23% compared to 2004.
